Sounds of LaGuardia

Is a sonic exploration of LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York by multimedia producer and sound artist Sandra Lopez-Monsalve. This project is part of the ArtPort Residency program of the Queens Council on the Arts (QCA) in collaboration with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ).

The Project

Voices

curated collection of short interviews that will ask travelers every week a single question to reflect on what it means to travel.

Sonomap

Recordings of ambient sound around the airport in a digital map that will allow listeners to experience the Sounds of LaGuardia.

Stories

Radio-style stories about different aspects of LaGuardia, including its history and the mural in the Marine Air Terminal (Terminal A).

The QCA ArtPort Residency is a program of the Queens Council on the Arts, Queens Arts Fund, that is supported in part by the NYC DCLA, Greater NY Arts Development Fund, In partnership with the NYC Council and in partnership with PANYNJ.
